Six Sigma Job Description & Career Opportunities

A six sigma candidate is at least a university business management graduate. He is attentive to details, has good oral and written communication skills, good problem solving skills, and good analytical skills. He improves the quality of operations in the company. He reports to the vice president of operations. He possesses a six sigma green belt or black belt. He analyzes complex business data and establishes the kind of improvements that can be made for the company to increase profit. He is recognized for having at least ten years of business experience. A lucrative opportunity awaits him in the corporate setting with good performance.
Functions

Lean principles and six sigma methods are executed for the corporate performance to be improved significantly. Overseeing each corporate project from start to end is important. Since he received special training for six sigma methods, he also imparts the knowledge gained to the people at work. With the shared knowledge, the other workers can also benefit from his expertise and understand how they can contribute positively to the company. Processes can be improved. Waste can be eliminated. Customer service can be improved. Bottom line profit can produce a better yield. Through value stream mapping, root cause analysis, Kaizen events, and six sigma training belts, performance is strengthened.

As a team player, the six sigma candidate can supervise his subordinates effectively. Positive results happen through his leadership. As a team leader, he makes his message to the members understood. Multi-tasking is also needed as he juggles operations, processes, and team performance. He makes sure that the business objectives are achieved through worker performance. He is regarded as approachable, highly self-motivated, knowledgeable of the methodologies of ISO9001, effective management of projects, and improvement. He facilitates communication between engineering and technical support. He can manage creating control charts, plotting data on graphs, recognizing situations that are risky, and suggesting strategies for how the various departments can realize their objectives.
Responsibilities

He is also knowledgeable of technologies used for software testing. Superiors want him to be skilled with test reports, test plans, and test cases. In the analysis of business processes, standard quantitative methods are used. When he is on the field, he visits the company sites and inspects them. The manufacturing locations are also included for field work. With five years of experience behind him in a multi-discipline organization, he can extend this duration with the company. He may experience being in stressful situations where he must maintain composure. The pressure he experiences is not overwhelming for him.
